ELOPEMENT IN POSITANO

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

By myself Peggy, your elopement photographer in Positano!

Ready for your Amalfi coast adventure?

Eloping to Positano is a unique experience and for sure, the best idea to create unforgettable memories together.

I receive many requests and questions from couples who dream to elope to Positano. Guys, this post is for you! I hope that it will help you to understand what to expect and where to begin 🙂

Step one: Make a plan

determine who is coming

elopement with or without guests?

  •  A destination wedding/elopement is not the same experience if you travel alone or if you bring parents or a few friends to share it with you. Positano is an expensive place so the budget and all the planning of the elopement will be different if you elope without guests or if you elope with guests.

  • Most of my couples choose to elope without guests because they love to enjoy this unique occasion together. Mixing wedding and honeymoon together. Then they organize a reception at home later when they are back. Sometimes it is a surprise for their families as they keep the elopement secret. Mainly the difference will be the number, If you are just coming with your parents or a couple of friends (in that case yes it is still an elopement and it won’t change too much for planning, you can organize it alone with my assistance, very easily, without a wedding planner) or if you will bring 20 or 30 people (in that case it is a wedding and you will have to plan it like a regular intimate wedding, with the location, hotels etc most of times it will request the assistance of a coordinator/wedding planner.)

Step two: Choose your type of ceremony

MLEgal civil wedding or symbolic ceremony

In Positano you can have a legal wedding only at the City Hall. It is located at the entrance of the town, on top. There’s a terrace with a view on the sea (not on the houses/not the typical view of Positano). It requests a lot of time, many paperworks and expensive fees. To be honest, it is not the easiest in Italy but if it something that you consider, be prepared and accept that you will have to deal with many complicated moments and you will request the assistance of a coordinator to help you. I have a great contact that can help you and I will be happy to share it wit you if you are really motivated to have a legal civil marriage in Positano.

The second option is our favorite, the symbolic ceremony as it is the most personal and flexible way to elope. You can have the ceremony in many different spots, even on a balcony or a boat. Many hotels are fabulous for eloping, Hotel Marincanto, Villa Boheme, Palazzo Murat, Villa Magia, Hotel Conca d’Oro etc. It is really the type of ceremony I prefer because of the vows, the emotions and the very unique moment you share together. I’m lucky to work with very talented celebrants and I will be proud to recommend the best to you for your symbolic elopement ceremony in Positano.

If you need a referral for civil wedding, I work with great planner & coordinator in the area, feel free to email me : Ciao Peggy

Step Three: Choose the date

What’s the best month to elope to Positano?

Consider that Positano is a summer season place, many hotels and restaurants are closed during winter/off-season. It means that you can elope easily from April to end of October. The other months are a bit complicated because of the weather, the fact that the best hotels are closed and you won’t have the same experience on Amalfi Coast because restaurants and shops are closed. No boat ride possible and it is a pity because the photos from the boat are my very fav in Positano!

April/may/june/September/October are my fav months for eloping. April/may and October are lovely because there’s a bit less people and the light is magical. July and august are very warm in Italy and it can be very complicated with the massive tourism. If you love warm weather, it is still possible but consider to wear the right type of clothes, avoid heavy fabric and dark colors 😉

Pick the month/season and then, it is always easier if you have a few options of dates, if you are a bit flexible on the date. For example you consider to stay one week in Amalfi Coast/Positano, any of these days would work.

It will be much easier to book everything!

Step four : book your photographer and videographer

LEt the adventure begin!

Hello this is me, Peggy, your personal elopement photographer 😉 I have a great team of vendors ready to build the perfect elopement experience in Positano for you.

The best way to begin the planning of your elopement is : pick Positano,  choose a date/your week in Amalfi Coast for example and then hire your photographer.

The couples emails me their dates and we can proceed to realize their dream of eloping in Positano.

I offer different packages but typically my couples book me 4 or 5 hours (half day coverage for an elopement is perfect in Positano) and with my expertise, they can understand what works best for them to choose accommodation/location and proceed to book the other vendors.

Elopement videography (With drone) is part of my elopement packages in Positano and we are happy to create together the best experience for our couples.

Based on my experience of shooting several elopements in Positano since 2013, I will recommend to you all the vendors that you would need (Celebrant make up artist, hairstylist, boat tour, florist, cake etc.) and I will help you to find the best location for ceremony.

Step five : book your accommodations and location

sweet nights in Positano

I put these in the same category because in Positano we have the consider the subject together. If you don’t have guests, it is easier to find a location for ceremony. When possible, you can use the terrace or the balcony of your hotel room (a fee may be applied by the hotel and request permission). It is not possible in all hotels, some of them won’t allow you to use it. I will be happy to recommend the hotel where I’ve worked before and perfect for eloping. Without guests, you can also consider to have the ceremony on the boat if you are not easily seasick 😉

There are many options so we can discuss together to understand what will work best for you.

I have experiences in ,any hotels in Positano, from different ranges of price, I will do soon my top 10 hotels in Positano as I have many advices to share.

Step six : make the day special, your elopement, your way

hire additional vendors

  • Get inspired! I’m sharing full galleries of elopements with my new couples when they are beginning to plan their special day because I believe that it is useful that you understand how eloping in Positano looks for real and also the final product you will receive with your photos/video. It will give you also ideas of locations and what we can organize for the day.
  • Book a boat adventure : My fav in Positano is the sunset boat ride as it is the best way to get fab photos with the background and avoid people. I also always end the photoshoot on the beach as around sunset it is empty and we can enjoy the special view with colors and the lights before night.
  • On the road to happiness: Photos with a vintage car can be also a nice activity to get shots on the road (it work better with the 5 hours coverage package)
  • Cake for two please! Yes you can cut a cake! I believe that it is such a lovely moment to share together and makes things special. Cutting of the cake, sharing a piece of it, opening a bottle of Prosecco. Don’t give up your fav ideas, yes cake
  • Your elopement, your style, your budget It is difficult to give you an idea of the budget for flowers as it really depends of what you want. It can very inexpensive if you just need a bouquet and a buttonhole. Based on my experience of shooting several elopements in Positano since 2013, I will recommend to you all the vendors that you would need (Celebrant make up artist, hairstylist, boat tour, florist, cake etc.) and I will help you to find the best location for ceremony.
