1. Step one: Make a plan

determine who is coming

elopement with or without guests?

  • A destination elopement feels very different depending on whether you travel alone or bring a few guests with you. In Positano, where planning and budgets can quickly grow, deciding who joins you is an important first step.

  • Most couples choose to elope without guests so they can fully enjoy this intimate experience together, combining their wedding and honeymoon. Many later celebrate with family and friends back home.

  • If you invite only parents or a few close friends, the planning stays simple and the experience remains intimate. But once the guest list grows to 30 people, your elopement starts becoming a small destination wedding and usually requires more organization and often the help of a planner (I will connect you with mine). Locations will be different too for elopements with or without guests.

  • No matter your choice, I’m here to guide you and make planning easy and stress-free.

2. Step two: Choose your type of ceremony

to elope in Positano

LEGAL CIVIL WEDDING IN POSITANO

In Positano, legal civil weddings take place at the City Hall, located at the entrance of the town. The terrace offers a beautiful sea view, though not the iconic Positano scenery.

Planning a legal ceremony here requires paperwork, time, and higher fees compared to many places in Italy. Most couples work with a coordinator to handle the process smoothly.

If having a legal ceremony in Positano is important to you, I’ll happily connect you with trusted professionals who can guide you through every step.

SYMBOLIC CEREMONY — THE MOST POPULAR OPTION

A symbolic ceremony is the most flexible and personal way to elope in Positano. With a celebrant or just the two of you.

You can exchange vows almost anywhere: on a terrace, in a garden, on a boat, or in one of the many beautiful hotels overlooking the sea.

Many venues are perfect for this, including Hotel Marincanto, Villa Boheme, Palazzo Murat, Villa Magia, Hotel Conca d’Oro and more.

I personally love symbolic ceremonies because they focus entirely on your story and emotions. I also work with wonderful celebrants and can recommend the best match for your day.

CHURCH CEREMONY (CATHOLIC)

Catholic ceremonies are possible at Santa Maria Assunta church, but they involve preparation and strict requirements.

Ceremonies usually take place at 11am and 16pm. Planning takes time and coordination with the church authorities, but I can guide you if this option feels right for you.

3. Step Three: Choose the date

What’s the best month to elope to Positano?

Positano like all Amalfi Coast is mainly a summer destination, and many hotels and restaurants close during the winter months.

For the best experience, elopements are easiest to plan from April to the end of October. Outside this period, options are more limited due to weather conditions and seasonal closures. No boat ride from half October to half April but we can have photos with a vintage car on the coast.

April/May/June/September/October are my fav months for eloping. April/May and October are lovely because there’s a bit less people, the light is magical and hotels are budget friendly. July and August can be very warm with many tourists. If you love hot weather, it is still possible but consider to wear the right type of clothes, avoid heavy fabric and dark colors 😉

Keep some flexibility

Once you choose your season, it’s always helpful to keep a few possible dates open.

For example, if you plan to stay one week around Positano or on the Amalfi Coast, having several date options makes it much easier to book vendors and secure the best locations.

4. Step four : book your elopement package

LEt the adventure begin!

Ciao, I’m Peggy, your elopement photographer in Positano. Over the years, I’ve built a trusted team of local vendors to help couples create a seamless and unforgettable elopement experience on the Amalfi Coast.

The best way to begin planning is simple: choose Positano, pick your travel dates, and then book your photographer to start building your experience together. Once couples contact me with their preferred dates, we start planning their dream elopement step by step.

Most couples book 4 to 5 hours of coverage, which is perfect for a relaxed Positano elopement. I guide them in choosing the best locations, timeline and accommodations, and then we move forward with booking the right vendors.

With over a decade of experience photographing and planning elopements in Positano, I can recommend trusted local vendors such as celebrants, videographers, makeup artists, hairstylists, florists, boat tours, vintage car, restaurants for intimate dinner and more. I also help couples find the best ceremony locations based on their vision and budget.

5. Step five : book your accommodations and location

sweet nights in Positano

In Positano, accommodation and ceremony location are often connected, so it makes sense to plan them together.

If you are eloping without guests, finding a ceremony location becomes much easier. In many cases, couples can use the terrace or balcony of their hotel room for their ceremony. Some hotels may charge a fee or require permission, and not all properties allow this option.

I’m always happy to recommend hotels where I’ve worked before and that are perfect for intimate elopements. Another beautiful option, especially for couples without guests, is having the ceremony on a boat, if you’re comfortable on the water.

There are many possibilities, and we can discuss together what works best for your vision and experience.

Having worked in many hotels across Positano, from luxury properties to more accessible options, I’m happy to share recommendations. I will also soon publish my personal selection of the best hotels in Positano to help couples choose more easily.

6. Step six : make the day special, your elopement, your way

what to do

Get inspired

I love sharing full elopement galleries with couples at the beginning of their planning. It helps you visualize how an elopement in Positano really looks and understand the final result you will receive in your photos and videos. It also gives ideas for locations and activities we can plan together for your day.

Book a boat adventure

One of my favorite experiences in Positano is a sunset boat ride (champagne included of course). It’s the best way to enjoy incredible views while avoiding crowds, and it creates stunning photo opportunities. We often end the photoshoot on the beach around sunset, when it becomes quieter and the light is simply magical.

On the road to happiness

A vintage car photoshoot is also a wonderful option. It allows us to capture beautiful moments along the Amalfi Coast roads and works especially well with longer coverage packages.

Cake for two please!

Yes, you can absolutely have a cake! Cutting a cake together, sharing a slice, or opening a bottle of prosecco adds a lovely celebratory moment to your elopement. Don’t give up your favorite traditions just because you are eloping.

Your elopement, your style, your budget

Every elopement is unique, and budgets vary depending on what you want to include. Flowers, for example, can range from simple bouquets to more elaborate arrangements. Thanks to my experience photographing elopements in Positano since 2013, I can recommend trusted vendors for everything you might need: celebrant, makeup artist, hairstylist, florist, boat tours, cake designers and more. I will also help you find the perfect ceremony location.
