elope in Rome

1. How to elope in Rome:

What kind of ceremony?

You have several ceremony options to elope in Rome :

  • a civil legal ceremony at Rome’s Town Hall: you have choice between two locations: the Sala Rossa at Campidoglio and Sala Complesso Vignola Mattei in Santa Maria in Tempulo.  Be prepared that it is an expensive option with a lot of paperworks. In that case, I recommend that you hire a coordinator as you will need one for the documents (I collaborate with one). it is easier for couples from Europe, a bit longer for couples from other parts of the world.
  • a religious ceremony in a catholic church. Rome is full of incredible churches! More than 900… yes it’s really a lot. Rome is the city with the most churches in the world. You can also have a legal wedding in church. I will recommend to you the best places with English-speaking priest in the center of town. Cost less expensive than City Hall but coordinator is recommended.
  • symbolic ceremony (my favorite option) This is the easiest and most flexible choice. It allows you to personalize everything and can even be organized last minute. If you don’t have guests, you can celebrate almost anywhere: a terrace overlooking the Roman Forum, a temple in Villa Borghese gardens, a rooftop with city views, or even the terrace of your hotel. Many options in several styles,  I know all the best spots in town, you will find a few selections below.

If you need ideas or recommendations, I’ll be happy to help.

2. best Timeline & tips for an Elopement in Rome

My experiences and thoughts as Rome elopement photographer

  •  Sunrise VS sunset: because the experience you will have on your day is my priority, I usually recommend an afternoon elopement in Rome. Sometimes couples are asking what I think about sunrise shooting to avoid the tourists, Consider that even in the morning very early there’s already people at Trevi Fountain or Spanish steps. Rome is busy with the traffic in the morning and we often loose time on taxi/van to travel between locations. If you are happy to wake up at 3am to get ready for your elopement, this is an option that we can talk about but the day itself will be a completely different experience. everything is possible, I will be happy to help you to understand what works best for you.
  • I love afternoon because the light is better, I know where to go to avoid people and take advantage of the incredible beauty of the town. I believe that your elopement day should begin with a nice breakfast at your hotel, in your room, then you get ready, make up, hair etc., ceremony in the afternoon (time will depend of month and season), photoshoot around the best locations of Rome, a stop for gelato, pizza or spritz and ending with a great dinner. a Stress-free and easy day to enjoy Rome together!

  • First look: we can have a first look in your hotel if there’s space to organize it. or plan a first look with view on Coliseum or on the Forum.

Let’s begin to plan your special day, feel free to email me : Ciao Peggy

3. Your hotel to live the Dolce Vita

What’s best than a night in the best hotel room in Rome?

My fav hotels in Rome:

Palazzo Naiadi One fo my fav in town! perfectly located a few meters from Termini station. “Immerse in the splendour of ancient Rome in a crescent-shaped palazzo fronting the Piazza della Repubblica. Named for the Greek water nymphs of the Fountain of Naiads located in the centre of the piazza, Anantara Palazzo Naiadi showcases a uniquely storied history, with imposing 19th-century marble architecture, a Vatican granary wing, and ruins of the imperial Baths of Diocletian seen through the lower ground floor.” There’s even a very nice rooftop with a pool and a SPA.. I’ve shot this elopement getting ready pics in this hotel.

Palazzo Manfredi The best luxury suites in town! I’m in love with the perfect design and the breathtaking view on the Coliseum. The Bar is one of the place to be in Rome and the rooftop restaurant offers an incredible menu, one star Michelin. “romantic five-star hotel in the center of Rome offer the ultimate in luxury and hospitality in twelve rooms, two suites and seven grand view suites, each with a clever mix of contemporary furnishings and works of art dating back to the 16th century.” I have shot two elopements here.

St Regis Located in an historic 1894 palazzo, the Hotel St Regis is perfect for you if you like luxury classic elegance and appreciate a perfect butlers service. “Nestled in the heart of the Rome and located within walking distance to the many attractions such as the Trevi Fountain and Via Veneto, the St. Regis Rome is one of the finest expressions of the hotel luxury. Over the decades The St. Regis Rome hosted many of Rome’s most exclusive and memorable events and wedding receptions. Murano chandeliers, frescoes and marble columns offer a rich backdrop for intimate occasions and unprecedented celebrations.”

Hotel Hassler for the Spanish Steps lovers… it’s on Piazza Trinità dei Monti! The Palazzetto has an amazing rooftop terrace (I had two wedding cocktails there, it was really incredible, by nigth too) and you also have a 1 star Michelin panoramic restaurant. “Il Palazzetto, a beautiful 19th-century building overlooking the Spanish Steps, offers a location of enchantment, with unique event spaces that will make each private event a memorable occasion. This building is not only home to stunning event spaces but also to four boutique hotel rooms and two panoramic terraces where to enjoy cocktails and light meals.”
