Let’s fall in love with this “niche destination”! Sassi of Matera and the Park of the Rupestrian Churches are UNESCO world heritage site since 1993. Getting lost in the alleys and narrow streets of Matera as you explore is the best way to discover the fabulous potential of the city. In all streets of the Sassi, at each corner, you will understand why Matera is so fascinating with its natural caves carved into the rock. Discovering these houses, churches and monasteries, you will feel in a nativity scene. Such a special cultural and architectural gem.

When you arrive in matera, you understand from the first second that you are about to live something completely different! If you follow me here on my website or my instagram, you already know that I work everywhere in Italy, a lot in Amalfi Coast, especially in Positano, in Rome, Tuscany and other stunning places as Taormina in Sicily, Venice and Cinque Terre/PortoVenere. Matera offers a different kind of elopement/intimate wedding setting. Feel the spirit of The Sextantio Grotte della Civita. the most amazing hotel of Matera. Sleeping in one of this cave room is an experience. “Le Grotte della Civita is placed in the oldest part of the Sassi, the CIVITA, facing the spectacular Murgia park and its rock-hewn churches. It comprises 18 rooms and an ancient church, the “Cripta della Civita”, now used as a common area, all renovated to retain their original features”. Getting ready shots will be incredibly unique With the colors of the cave, the candles and the special light and shades. For me, it is the perfect place to stay the two nights of the elopement, Highly recommended!

Antico Convicino

Built in a 16th-century location with charming furnishings, the hotel Antico Convicino offers spacious rooms and suites located inside caves, result of the transformation of some old houses. Unique and exquisite experience.

Palazzo del Duca

How to elope to Matera?

Your elopement, your way! Matera has a lot to offer for all levels of budgets. Basilicata is very budget friendly so you can stay in a fab hotel and eat in stylish restaurants for very reasonable costs compared to other areas/cities in Italy. A symbolic ceremony is very easy to organize in matera. Many public free spots can be used for ceremony in the city and outside, with the view on the Sassi.

I offer different packages but typically my couples book me 4 or 5 hours (half day coverage for an elopement is perfect) and with my expertise, they can understand what works best for them to choose accommodation/location, type of ceremony and services/vendors (Celebrant, video, make up artist, hairstylist, florist, cake etc).
